On the lookout for Billy Elliot tickets?
We all know the story of Billy Elliot; a young boy in a small town in County Durham during the miners' strikes of the mid 1980s is desperate to become a professional dancer. His ballet teacher, played by Julie Walters in the film of the same name sends him for an audition at the Royal Ballet School in London. Of course despite various setbacks he wins a place and ultimately is shown to be starring in Swan Lake as the lead adult male dancer some years later. The story lends itself brilliantly to the stage as well as film. Following its opening in 2005, the stage show was nominated for nine Laurence Olivier Awards and has been shown in locations such as Broadway and in Australia amongst others. Tickets are available although you may have to book some months or even years in advance. The box office is now booking for tickets in the second half of December 2012. Tickets can be bought from the theatre box office at the Victoria Palace Theatre in London's West End and from the official Billy Elliot website. Tickets are not cheap; Top Stalls prices are £65 per ticket plus typically a £1.50 booking fee. Tickets for seats in the stalls are a little cheaper at £49.50 but you may find your view of part of the stage obscured. Family and Group tickets are also available at slightly reduced rates. You could also try ticketing agencies such as Ticketmaster, Seatwave and Ticketline.
